Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh

The rooms are good, they look somehow modern and clean. The hotel in general is also good. The buffet breakfast has many options and most of the staff are friendly. They also got quite a few amenities on request in case you need something. Walking distance from the train station is very useful as well. I recommend this hotel if you are visiting Edinburgh.

I highly recommend Leonardo Royal Hotel in Edinburgh. The location is absolutely ideal—right in the heart of the city, within easy walking distance of the Royal Mile, Waverley Station, and many of Edinburgh’s main attractions. It made sightseeing incredibly convenient. One of the highlights of the stay was the breakfast. The selection was superb, with a wide variety of fresh, high-quality options to suit all tastes. Everything was well prepared and plentiful, making it a perfect start to the day. Overall, a very comfortable and well-located hotel that I would happily recommend and stay at again.

The hotel room situated on the 2nd floor was pleasantly decorated, bed was comfortable, we received complementary procecco on arrival. The room wasn't very big, but this wasn't a problem. All staff were friendly and accommodating. Tea/coffee making facilities in room, and water in fridge.

Fantastic value and hotel. The location is excellent for the station and the Royal Mile. The staff we spoke to were all really friendly. The room was clean, spacious and the bed was so comfy. We will definitely come back here.

We recently stayed at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh during a trip celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. Overall the stay had some positives, but also a few disappointments. The biggest issue was the construction directly outside our window. It was quite noisy during the day and there was a noticeable smell from the work area. When booking the room, the reservation asked if we were celebrating anything special and I noted that it was our anniversary, so it was disappointing to end up with a room overlooking an active construction site. We completely understand that construction is often outside the hotel’s control, but a heads up ahead of time would have been appreciated so we could manage expectations or request a different room. We were also traveling kid free for the first time in a while and had hoped to relax during the day, but even a quick nap was difficult with the noise. A few other small inconveniences added up. The room tended to get quite warm and stuffy at night, even with the AC running. Our room was also far from the elevator with long, winding hallways, which made getting to and from it a bit of a trek. The TV was frustrating to use, often needing to be turned on and off several times before it would fully start. The menu also did not display any information at all, so the only way to find something to watch was to flip through each channel one by one and wait a few seconds for the picture to appear, which was pretty annoying. Netflix was listed as an option but would not allow us to select it or sign in. There was also no room service menu in the room or easily available online, which made ordering food difficult. Housekeeping did make the bed each day and refreshed water, though the sheets were not changed during our stay. That said, there were definitely some positives. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the train station which made arrival with luggage very easy, and it’s still close to Old Town and many major attractions. The room itself was clean, the bed was large and comfortable, and the shower was great. We also appreciated the mini fridge and safe in the room. The hotel has a nice, modern aesthetic, and check in and check out were both very smooth. The front desk staff were also helpful in arranging an early morning taxi to the airport without any issues. Overall, the hotel has a lot going for it in terms of location, comfort, and cleanliness, but the construction view and a few room issues took away from what could have been a much better stay.

Comfortable bed, dark room, great location (up some steep steps and straight onto the Royal Mile). Decorated to modern standards. A really great feature is the coffee machine with coffee pods. I'm a bit of a coffee snob, and honestly, this was a fantastic addition. Friendly staff; the only downside was that one of the elevators wasn't working, so being on the high floors, there was quite a wait at times for the lift. Apart from that, absolutely spot on, and I'd return.

Amazing location, right across from the station, breakfast was fantastic and lovely rooms but the staff are the best part of this place. Tara and Adrienne were so lovely and Cass was amazing! This girly needs a raise. It was our first day and she spent a good half hour with us showing us the map and telling us the best parts of Edinburgh and making sure we knew where we were going. We so appreciate the time she took and her help. We will definitely only be staying here when we’re back!

Ideal hotel to stay in that is centrally located & makes walking between old town & new town Edinburgh a breeze. Clean and friendly staff. No noise during the night that woke us despite having a room facing onto the main road. Would definitely book here again.
